The Army Reserves has seen a change over roughly the past decade, with an enhanced focus on the service due to Army 2020, a government defence strategy designed to improve the capability of reserve forces on operations to support their regular counterparts, among other things.
At a starting rate of just over £45 per day, with expenses paid and bonuses available yearly, the reserves can be a rewarding career path whether as an additional income or as a stop gap between full time employment. Ex reg? You could also be eligible for a joining bonus!
Progression is possible through the ranks, as you'll start as a Trooper after basic training, and each promotion incurs a pay rise to supplement the additional responsibility.
A Squadron, The Queen's Own Yeomanry are currently recruiting for their Hull and York detachments. They are a light cavalry regiment, specialising in reconnaissance and operating the RWMIK platform with 50. cal HMG and 7.62 GPMG as their main armaments.
